Privacy Act – This is a Newfoundland and Labrador statute which allows an individual to sue where that individual's privacy has been violated. The statute deals with violations of privacy such as auditory and visual surveillance and listening to or recording of a conversation. The individual involved is responsible for bringing the matter to court and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is not in any way involved in the court proceedings.
